Wah Chan opened its first outlet in Malaysia in 1955. The store was in Pekan in the state of Pahang and was founded by the late Mr. Koh Kui Wah. Initially the company sold traditional yellow gold jewelleries. The business grew rapidly and expanded to major towns and cities, quickly becoming one of Malaysias leading jewellers. Today, the company with 50 outlets nationwide, offers a full range of gold, diamond and gem stone jewellery. Wah Chan is available at Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor Bahru, Seremban, Melaka, Perak and Kuantan. In 1993, the company became the first jeweller to register with the inaugural franchise unit of the Prime Ministers Department in Malaysia. As a registered franchisor, Wah Chans approved franchisees are eligible for the preferential low interest loans from Bank Negara Malaysia.
