Our undergraduate program offers five tracks of study: Human Computer Interaction; Knowledge, Information and Data; Media/Creative Computing; Scientific Computing; and Systems and Networking at our Blacksburg campus. Our graduate programs in Blacksburg and the National Capital Region offer a rich research-focused environment producing 50 masters graduates and 25 Ph.D. graduates every year. The Department of Computer Science is committed to excellence in diversity and has been a champion of promoting underrepresented populations in STEM for decades. Since 2007 the percentage of undergraduate women enrolled in our program has risen from 4 percent to 18 percent and our number of women teaching faculty has risen from four to nine. We also have a strong presence at leading diversity-focused conferences such as Tapia and the Grace Hopper Celebration where our students have been recognized not only for their commitment to diversity, but also for their comprehensive research. We attract faculty that excel in their fields and to date faculty have garnered 14 National Science Foundation CAREER Awards and had $11 million in research expenditures in 2017-18. We also boast strong corporate and industry partnerships through our Computer Science Resources Consortium with over 90 companies that participate in spring and fall career fairs, numerous student engagement opportunities, and capstone sponsorship.
