The official LinkedIn page for The Schenck School. For more than 60 years, we have taught students to advocate for themselves and to celebrate their dyslexia. They learn to view themselves as smart, independent learners capable of great things. Using the Orton-Gillingham Approach to phonics instruction, we are fully committed to helping students in K-6 who are struggling with reading. Through our comprehensive education program and emphasis in our curriculum, we build skills not only in Sound and Word Level Reading and Spelling, Reading and Writing, but also in Handwriting, Vocabulary, Fluency, Math, and Science/Social Studies. As we teach our students to thrive in and out of our classrooms, we also prepare them to successfully transition back to mainstream schools when the time is right.
