The Bahamas Sustainable Development Goals Unit

The Bahamas, among 193 member states, signed onto the United Nations 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development. There are 17 goals along with 169 targets that spans across the environmental, social and economic domains. These targets provide specific and measurable objectives that are anticipated to be achieved by 2030 to realize the broader goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Sustainable Development Goals Unit, created by a Cabinet mandate in 2018 within the Office of the Prime Minister, serves as the central hub for reporting, monitoring, and evaluating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the country. Established to streamline efforts and enhance coordination, the SDGU is charged with establishing institutional mechanisms and coordination structures across national, local, and ministerial levels.
