As a committed student, he remained at the top of his class throughout his undergraduate and graduate careers. After completing dental school, Dr. Smith went on to serve in the Navy for four years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Dr. Smith received his B.S. in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill and went on to complete his DDS at the Medical University of South Carolina. He returned to UNC Chapel Hill where he achieved his MS in Orthodontics.
