Sleafordian Coaches

Sleafordian Coaches : the name is synonymous throughout Lincolnshire and the UK for its image of quality & reliability. Sleafordian Coaches began life on 1st June 1964 when three local men, John Chell, Don Broughton and Ted Barton, began trading as Sleaford Taxi Company. At the beginning of 1966 - Don and Ted bought John Chells shares and gave them to their wives so consequently Mrs Broughton and Mrs Barton became Directors of the company. The following year a second coach was added to the fleet and was the first vehicle to carry the name Sleafordian Coaches, which remains the trading name today that is familiar to local people. The company relocated to premises on Westgate in 1973, the former Edward Whites Garage, and continued to operate from these premises for the next 31 years. Ted Barton retired in 1982 and from this point on the company became exclusively a bus and coach operation with all the remaining taxis being sold. Don and Jean Broughton continued to run the busin...
