San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk

The Assessor is responsible for locating, describing, and identifying ownership of all property within the County of San Bernardino; establishing a taxable value for all properties subject to taxation; listing all taxable values on the assessment roll; and applying all legal exemptions. The Recorder is responsible for the recordation and safeguarding of any document that is authorized or required by statute or court order to be recorded and meets the recording requirements of state statutes and local ordinances. We serve as the public repository, much like a library where information is stored permanently. As an extension of the State, the Recorder also maintains all vital records consisting of birth, death, and marriage records that have occurred in San Bernardino County.
