The Pharmacy Council of New Zealand protects the public by ensuring that pharmacists are competent and fit to practise. We are a Responsible Authority created by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (the Act). The Act defines our role which includes setting the standards required for pharmacist training, setting professional standards, authorising the registration of pharmacists so they can practise, and considering pharmacists applications to issue their annual practising certificates.
