Oregon Public Defense Commission

As champions of justice, we support the Sixth Amendment. We ensure that people who cannot afford an attorney have access to legal services for timely processing of criminal cases. Our agency regulates contracts with trial-level public defense providers and administers and distributes funds for representation and related services for criminal, juvenile and civil commitment cases. We provide compliance and oversight to the trial community providers through quality assurance practices, training and education.
