NewRetex A/S

NewRetex A/S has developed the first fully automated sorting system for textiles in Denmark. We sort over 100 tons of textile waste per month, working towards a sorting capacity in Denmark of 40,000 tons annually. In accordance with the upcoming EU Circular Economy Action Plan, effective in Denmark from 2023 and the remaining EU countries from 2025, we are opening up a new and exciting market for textile waste recycling. The textile industry is currently the fifth-largest global emitter of CO2, ranking fourth in the use of virgin resources and water. Studies also reveal that less than 1% of all textiles are recycled. Our goal is for (a portion of) textile waste to become a valuable resource in the production of new clothing. We have developed a range of standard yarns containing sorted textile waste from our facility. Now, more than ever, it is crucial to explore textile recycling possibilities.
