Namami Gange

Flowing a length of over 2,500 km from Gaumukh to Gangasagar, Ganga is considered to be the most revered river, and symbolizes the rich socio-cultural, spiritual and ecological heritage of India. Considering its cultural significance Government of India has launched Rs 20000 Cr flagship programme Namami Gange for the holistic rejuvenation of River Ganga and its tributaries. National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), an authority under the Environment Protection Act 1986, is implementing the Namami Gange programme, Indias largest environmental effort in the history of river rejuvenation. NMCG adopts an integrated and multi-sectoral approach for the protection, conservation, and rejuvenation of River Ganga and its tributaries.
