On September 1st, 1961 Merle Kelly Ford opened for business in the heart of downtown Chanute, KS. Merle Kelly founded the company on two principles which are still the benchmark for all the decisions made at the dealerships today: 1. Treat the customer the way they want to be treated 2. Support the local community. Kelly believed that when he helped someone buy a vehicle he had made a friend for life. These values have been passed from father to son to grandson. Even though the dealership location has changed and Chanute has grown since 1961.
