On December 28, 2017, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced the approval of Care New Englands reverse certificate of need application to move forward with the functional closure of Memorial Hospitals Emergency Department. As of January 1, 2018, Memorial Hospitals Emergency Department will be closed. Care New England remains committed to ensuring access to community-based, outpatient care that meets the future health care needs in the Blackstone Valley.
