It was founded in 1885 by Joseph Lovibond, a prominent brewery owner who introduced the LOVIBOND colour scale and the first colorimeter ever as a means of ensuring the quality of his beer. By 1893 he had perfected his research and introduced the first instruments. Since then, the company has continued to develop and extend the product range. Today, the company is bringing Water Analysis & Colour measurement to the next level while still recognising the importance of traditional methods.
