Los Alamos Police Department

The Los Alamos Police Department is a CALEA accredited Law Enforcement Agency that is committed to its citizens and visitors to provide quality pro-active law enforcement services to Los Alamos County and neighboring counties. LAPD is comprised of 85 employees 39 of which are certified sworn law enforcement officers with the State of New Mexico. In addition to its law enforcement services LAPD maintains its own 9-1-1 Consolidated Dispatch Center responsible for dispatching Law Enforcement and Medical Services. LAPD also has its own Detention Facility and Detention staff certified through the State of New Mexico. The Police Department includes and the Animal Control Officers and an off-site animal shelter. There are several civilian staff members who also help run the daily operations of this Agency. An Emergency Manager and Emergency Specialist also work as a part of this Agency.
