In the 1970s, Korea saw the visions of the leaders of the United Arab Emirates to transform the strategically located nation into the business center of the Middle East and North African region. Korea herself was going through the times of development and quickly realized that the U.A.E and Korea can grow together into the stratosphere. In this light, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), as the national trade and investment promotion agency of the Republic of Korea (South Korea), opened an office in the U.A.E. in 1976 to lay a foundation for a strong economic relationship between the two nations. For more than 40 years, KOTRA has been serving as the bridge to close the gap between fast growing businesses in the U.A.E. and Korea.
