KALY is developing a sustainable, low-cost supply chain for farmed seaweed in Europe that includes production, value-added processing, and product development. From our home base on the beautiful Isle of Skye, we are methodically building the backbone of an entire industry in conjunction with partners from industry, academia, and government. The many exciting applications for farmed seaweed - along with the ecosystem services in the sea and implications for land use ashore that seaweed farming can deliver - are only meaningful provided that vast quantities of biomass are produced and processed at a competitive price point.
