Gull Boats & RV in Missoula, MT was started in 1941 by Bob Anderson Sr., but back then it was simply called Gull Boats. Bob Sr. started by manufacturing boats, out of an incredible new-fangled material called fiberglass, in his parents garage, where the Depot Deck is currently located. In those days, it was unheard of to be a landlocked boat manufacturer. Despite this (or because of it), his boats became a huge success. Soon, Gulls dealer network spread all the way to Florida. Word of the quality of his boats was spreading. In the late 1950s it became difficult finding enough skilled fiberglass workers this far inland to keep up with the growing demand, so Bob Anderson made the decision to curtail the building of boats, and become a retail outlet for boats, and motors instead. It was also around this time Gull Boats & RV became a Ski-Doo snowmobile dealer (now one of the oldest in the US) and a separate ski shop and SCUBA shop were added.
