GIZ Tanzania and EAC

GIZ opened its office in Dar es Salaam in 1982, adding further to Germanys international cooperation with Tanzania since 1975. Currently, GIZ Tanzania focal areas of cooperation are health, water/sanitation and biodiversity. Additionally, on the bilateral level GIZ supports the Tanzanian Government strengthen its public finance system through a co-financed Good Financial Governance programme. At the regional level, we have been advising the East African Community (EAC), based in Arusha, since 1998; the focus here is deepening the economic and social integration of EAC Partner States. Furthermore, GIZ is implementing numerous other projects in Tanzania and the EAC, such as the Employment and Skills for Eastern Africa (E4D/SOGA) programme, a Special Initiative Refugees and Displacement project, Pandemic Prepardness, Promotion of the African Rice Value Chain (CARI), the Natural Resource Stewardship Programme (NatuReS) and the C40 Cities Finance Facility.
