The Georg-August-Universitat Gottingen was founded in 1737 and is one of the oldest universities in Germany. The roots of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences go back to the 18th century. In the winter semester 1951/52, it was established as the seventh faculty with the spin-off of already existing agricultural disciplines from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
