Contemporary at Blue Star

Contemporary at Blue Star is the first and longest-running venue for contemporary art in San Antonio. Developed from a grassroots event for artists by artists in July 1986, the organization arose from the need to provide a platform for the work and ideas of local contemporary artists. In the years since its inception, the Contemporary has grown with the community, activiating positive change in both the art community and the community at large. The Contemporarys mission, to inspire the creative genius in us all by nurturing artists through innovative contemporary art, informs all exhibitions, programs, and events.
