As the countrys leading steel manufacturer, BSRM looks to capitalize on the impending construction boom in Bangladesh. Realizing the need and part of the diversification plan, BSRM ventured into a new business area and set up a wire manufacturing unit called BSRM Wires at Mirsharai in Chattogram. The plant has the capacity to manufacture 65,000 tons of wires per annum. A combination of galvanized wire finished products, ACSR core wire, LRPC, Mig Wire, Welding Electrode, etc. will be manufactured in this unit, which are currently imported. The price of the finished imported goods is higher than it should be, considering the raw material price in the international market. Local manufacturing will help to reduce the price to great extent.
