Billion Oyster Project

Billion Oyster Project is a nonprofit restoring oyster reefs to New York Harbor through public education initiatives. Oyster reefs have the power to transform NY Harbor. They provide habitat for hundreds of marine species, filter water, and can help shield NYC shorelines from storm damage. Since its founding in 2014, Billion Oyster Project has reintroduced 122 million oysters, engaging 8,000+ students, 15,000+ volunteers, and 70+ NYC restaurant partners.
