Australian Maritime & Fisheries Academy

Founded in 1997, the Australian Fisheries Academy was established as an industry managed education centre for the maritime, fishing and seafood industries. It is now recognised as a leader in the provision of maritime, fishing and seafood industry-based education and development programs in Australia. In 2011, the Australian Fisheries Academy included maritime in its trading name to become the Australian Maritime & Fisheries Academy (AMFA). The new name reflects the increased number of students, courses and demand the maritime sector has experienced in the last few years. AMFA students now have wider career options than ever before, with the oil and gas sectors of the resources industry becoming a large utiliser of skilled maritime workers.
