A1 Capital is a private equity fund based in South Africa and the UK. It has operational and investment expertise in private higher education, Edtech, Property, entertainment and retail. Founded in 2008, it is an accredited wholly black-empowered fund. Since inception, A1 Capital has a proven track record of being able to identify and turn around distressed investments into positive assets that are competitive and generate positive yields. The fund operates as a value-added business, where it builds and develops the human capital network within an organisation before exiting. In 2008, A1 Capital acquired Educor Holdings, a leading supplier of private education, from JSE-listed Naspers.
