AKIM is Israels leading organization making inclusion and belonging a reality for thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities. At AKIM, we dont simply strive for inclusion we create it. Founded in 1951, AKIM acts on the belief that every individual with an intellectual disability deserves the right to achieve their happiest, fullest, and most independent life. A Trailblazing Organization: AKIM College, in cooperation with leading Israeli academic institutions, provides young adults the opportunity to receive a higher education leading to a career path. A National Organization - providing services and support to Israels periphery including Arab and Druze populations at 67 branches from north to south. Self-advocacy is about knowing and standing up for ones rights. The OUR VOICE Program includes 55 groups in all population sectors, each one guided by a facilitator.
