4th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters North East is a new, adaptable force brigade based in Yorkshire and the North East of England. This new formation comprises Regular and Reserve Army units that have the capability to carry out a wide range of missions. The Black Rats are the lead light brigade in the newly formed Joint Expeditionary Force (Land), to provide a scalable and widely employable non-standing force to suit niche or small to medium operations. This new formation is also capable of providing the core of a manoeuvre support brigade within a Vanguard division in a warfighting scenario.
